PILOT CLUB OF DICKINSON 4TH OF JULY PARADE
Joint event with Pack 207
Thursday, July 4, 8:00 AM
Holy Trinity Episcopal Church

The parade will stage at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 4613 State Highway 3 in Dickinson (Click Here for Map), at 8 a.m. and will consist of bicycles, tricycles, wagons, wheel chairs, strollers, high school bands, color guard, fire trucks and approximately 40 children. The parade starts at 9 a.m., proceeding south on Highway 3 to the VFW, where it will end around 10:00 a.m. The total distance is about 1/2 mile.

Scouts and family members are invited to decorate their “wheels” and participate in this short-distance event. Please wear your uniform shirt and officially represent the Boy Scouts of America organization during this event.

Scouts of all ranks can work toward achievements, electives and a bicycling belt loop by participating in this event. See your den leader or Scout handbook for details. All participants will earn a parade patch.

Crepe paper and other decorating materials will be available at the staging site that morning.

********** UPDATED INFORMATION  *******************
Also--Jon Grosenheider has volunteered his truck and 6' x 8' trailer for tomorrow. We have decorating supplies (just a few bows and such) to decorate the trailer. If you can meet us behind Roger's Malt Shop on Highway 3 at 8 a.m. you can help us decorate. Or, you can meet at the staging site, which is the Episcopal Church. See the blog for an address and map. If your Scout prefers to bring his bike instead of riding in the truck or on the trailer, feel free! Jon, thank you for letting us use your wheels!

PARENTS COMMITTEE MEETING
Tuesday, July 17, 6:30 p.m
First United Methodist Church.

Calling all Akela's. Please join us for the Parent's Committee Meeting. At this meeting, we are discussing the popcorn fundraiser, summer and fall events, and deciding on dates for events during the upcoming school year.

As per our Law of the Pack, our "Cub Scouts Help The Pack Go" with their attendance and involvement. Our Akelas that volunteer to help also help the "Pack Go." Without the help of our Parents, Grandparents, and Family Volunteers, our Pack would come to a stop. Please Help us to Keep it Going and Growing.

If you are a den leader, assistant den leader, or are serving in another pack leadership position (or may want to serve in one), please "Do Your Best" to attend this meeting.

If you need childcare, we can help! We will use a room at the church for day care to make it very easy. Please let Jennifer Donovan know no later than July 10 if you need this, and she will make arrangements for you. So far we know of 2 kids needing day care. We can still make arrangements for several more.
Hope to see many of you there!

MODEL ROCKET EVENT
Saturday, July 21, 5:00 p.m.
Location TBA

This is a noncompetitive event for all family members to learn about model rocketry. Anyone is invited to purchase and decorate a rocket kit—siblings and parents, too! The Pack will have a craft area set up for anyone who would like to decorate their rocket on-site, as well as younger participants who can make a paper-towel-tube rocket to participate in the fun.

Engines will likely be limited to Class A and B (depending on the size of the site we use). More details will be sent at a later date.

There are several awards that Scouts can earn, with den leaders’ ok, while participating in this event. One is the Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Award (requirements are rank-specific, see your handbook), as well as these:

Tigers: Electives 17 (Make a Model), 22 (Picnic Fun), 25 (Snack Time), and 29 (Safety in the Sun)
Wolves: Requirement 8e (Plan, prepare and cook an outdoor meal); Elective 5 (Spare Time Fun); Elective 18a, b, f (Outdoor Adventure)

Bears: Requirement 21a, b, f (Build a Model); Requirement 9f (prepare a dessert); Requirement 12c, d (Family Outdoor Adventures); 18 f, g (Information, Please)

Webelos: Part of scientist requirement 8

Please bring a picnic dinner, lawn chairs and a blanket to share with your family.

NOTE: A private property owner is needed to allow this event to take place on their land—if you have some space the pack can use, please speak with event coordinator Joe Donovan at 409-789-8040 or nitemaro4@yahoo.com.
