Tomorrow is Family Fish and Fun Day at Challenger Park! The event begins around 10 am. Let's meet at the pond near the entrance to the park. We'll fish for awhile, then take a hike to the Earth Sculpture. Please bring lunch for your family. There is no cost for this. My understanding is that kids don't need a fishing license, but adults do if they want to fish. (Licenses are available at Wal-Mart, Academy, and other stores, or you may just want to watch your kiddo fish instead.)
This is a very laid-back event. Here is some fishing advice from Jason, the Bear Den Leader:
Come prepared to fish more for perch, catfish, and other small fish rather than bass, etc. I would recommend a bobber (cork) and a small hook and live worms. Other catfish type baits may work as well. An older gentleman who was there last Sunday also said he had seen kids catch fish on pieces of cut up hot dog.
If you have extra fishing equipment, please bring it if you are willing to loan it to others in our pack who don't have any. :)
All Scouts can begin earning their fishing belt loop at this event. Parents, if you want info on this, see Joe or me tomorrow and we will have a copy of the requirements--it's very easy to meet these requirements.
See you tomorrow!
